Bat Exclusion Is Seasonal
Bat Removal and Exclusion Cannot Always Be Performed Immediately
The timing of a bat exclusion matters. During maternity season, female bats may be caring for young bats that are not yet capable of leaving the roost on their own. Young bats must become volant — meaning they are able to fly and leave the roost — before exclusion can safely take place.

Montana Bat Exclusion Season
High Country Wildlife does not perform bat exclusions in Montana from June 1 to October 1.

We can still inspect your home, identify bat entry points, evaluate the extent of the activity, and prepare a bat exclusion plan so the necessary work can be scheduled during the appropriate exclusion window.
How One-Way Bat Exclusion Works
Professional One-Way Exclusion for Bats
High Country Wildlife uses one-way bat exclusion methods:
- Locate Bat Entry Points: We inspect the home to identify where bats are entering and exiting, along with additional gaps that may provide access.
- Install a One-Way Bat Device: A bat valve, screen tube, or similar one-way exclusion device may be installed over an active opening.
- Allow the Bats to Exit: The device allows bats to leave the structure while preventing them from re-entering through that opening.
- Seal and Repair the Entry Point: Once the exclusion is complete and the bats have safely exited, the opening can be properly sealed or repaired.
Whole-Home Bat Exclusion
One Bat Entry Point May Not Be the Only Problem
If you see bats entering one area of your home, there may be additional openings you cannot easily see from the ground. Bats can access homes through small gaps around: rooflines, soffits, fascia, siding, vents, chimneys, flashing, gaps between building materials, and other openings around the structure.
Closing only the most obvious bat entry point may leave other areas available for bats to use.
